Join Get On Board

Welcome

Why miss out on the many board, chair and committee opportunities out there? Get on Board is a scheme run by the National Housing Federation that aims to match skilled and experienced candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds to board vacancies within our member housing associations. The National Housing Federation is a membership organisation representing 1,300 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England and is the voice for affordable housing. Our members provide two million affordable homes for five million people.

The Get on Board website will put you in touch with the latest vacancies by enabling you to view and apply for housing associations’ board, committee and chair vacancies with minimum fuss. Post your online profile and requirements for recruiting housing associations to view.

We also aim to deliver smart, skilled and experienced candidates to housing associations looking to fill a gap in their board. You can search our database and connect with people - start making a difference to your organisation!

What does Get on Board involve?

Being responsible for nearly two million homes and housing five million people means housing associations are always on the lookout for skilled volunteers to help provide dynamic governance for their organisations. The time commitment asked of board members varies, but will be the equivalent of one day a month, mainly to attend meetings. Very few housing associations pay board members, apart from their out-of-pocket expenses, such as travelling and childcare costs.

Do you think people should be able to live in neighbourhoods where they feel safe, secure and fulfilled? Do you want to make a difference to your community? Then join Get on Board and use your skills to give something back to your community.
